The first thing you’ll notice about Malin is her jewelry: she is always wearing them, and each piece is carefully chosen for a special reason.
The second thing you’ll learn about Malin is that she loves to travel: from hectic metropolises to polar bear sight seeing in Svalbard — her insatiable urge to explore takes her to the most amazing places.
“It may sound boring to say that jewelry are souvenirs, since souvenirs make you think of some last-minute-gift-shop-thing you buy for your aunt. For me, buying a piece of jewelry somewhere, gives me something I can wear wherever I go. It will remind me of the place where I was when I got it. Jewelry can bear so many memories, and meanings, and they can be worn by generations to come. It’s truly something unique”.
This is the story about Malin’s jewelry, and the places they come from.
The Maharaja ring is an antique ring from Tibet, bought at one of her many travels to India. It was originally made as a men’s ring, to be worn on the pinky finger. It is beautifully adorned with engravings and colorful coral and turquoise stones.
Even the ring shank is carefully crafted and covered with coral stones.
Malin bought this jade bracelet on a trip to China. Even though it doesn’t have a clasp and is made from a solid piece of jade, it fit’s snuggly around her wrist, as if it was specially made for her!
Maybe this was the ring with which it all began? A gift from her aunt that has followed Malin ever since. Some periods, she wears it every day. After a while she forgets about – but it always makes it back somehow.
You know when you tie a knot around your finger just to remind yourself of something? This cute little ring is a reminder, bought on one of her trips to New York.It pretty much symbolizes her whole philosophy around jewelry and why she loves them so much!
That this ring was made by an architect isn’t surprising. With the combination of soft and sharp edges and the dark brass patina, this ring is all about contrasts and geometry.
On the same note — playing with the contrast of oxidized and shiny metal, this ring is a real eye catcher. It was developed through a collaboration between Indiska, a Swedish fashion and interior brand with Indian influences, and Konstfack, the Swedish University College of Arts, Crafts and Design.
This delicate little gold bracelet was designed by Malin herself, with the help of Herr & Fru Lohse (Mr & Mrs Lohse). The letters on the small charm are the initials of her grandparents on each side of her family. Once again, a piece of jewelry is as a reminder of something she holds dearly.
This beautiful ring was made by the Indian designer Manish Arora, well known for his colorful and unique designs, to say the least. His creations have been worn by Rihanna, Lady Gaga, M.I.A and Katy Perry, just to name a few.
Her latest addition to her great collection — her very own Opium Jewelry ring! So I’m proud to introduce the ‘Malin ring’.
“What I like about Opium Jewelry is that the pieces feel so classical but at the same time have a lot of attitude”.
I wonder which memories this ring will have her look back upon.
Malin – collecting jewelry from all over the world.
